Job description

Successful and growing commercial HVAC company is looking for an experienced HVAC Mechanical Estimator to work out of our Phoenix or Tucson office. The Estimator is a primary member of the Pre-Construction team who has responsibility for the creation of budgets and estimates produced by the company.

The Estimator works with the Preconstruction Manager, Manager of Business Development, Contracts Manager as well as the General Manager and Operations Manager as required.

Projects range from conceptual budgets, plan and spec projects, owner direct design build projects and special projects as defined.

Essential Functions
Reviews project plans and specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope.
Reviews equipment selections and confirms proper site surveys are completed on design build projects.
Identifies risk issues and their order of magnitude on design build projects to include voltages and fitment.
Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing.
Prepares instructions to bidders, bid form and other bid solicitation information as required.
Performs and/or manages the quantity survey and pricing effort for internal budgets.
Prepares conceptual budgets based on minimal information.
Reviews general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics and other exhibits as required.
Ensures the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
Coordinates insurance requirements with Contracts Manager.
Coordinates technical proposal requirements with Sales Development.
Develops and produces cost estimates and proposals.
Analyzes alternate means and methods to determine the most economic alternative if applicable.
Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support Pueblo’s core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.
Ensures all released estimates comply with contractual pricing and delivery guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL And ABILITIES
Have complete knowledge of full service Mechanical Contracting to include dry side, wet side, controls and service.
Be proficient in all computer software programs used in estimating.
Possess strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
Ability to breakdown construction operations into a logical sequence of activities.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to professionally communicate the basis for individual work product when in a highly stressed environment.
Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Must be willing to travel as required.
Must possess a strong work ethic.
Strong organizational, interpersonal skills.
Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 to 5 years estimating or project experience on large commercial and institutional mechanical projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management is a plus.
