Qualifications

  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate employment eligibility in accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
  • Must possess a current and valid Massachusetts Drivers License
  • Must possess a current and valid Massachusetts Journeyman or Masters Electrician License
  • Massachusetts State Journeyman or Master License
  • Knowledge of state and local electrical codes
  • Knowledge of the principles and theory of electricity
  • Knowledge of basic algebra
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic
  • 20. Ability to maintain accurate records
  • 21. Ability to prepare and use charts, graphs and tables
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others
  • Ability to perform arithmetical computations with speed and accuracy (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as electrical plans, schematics, drawings, etc
  • Ability to make decisions and act quickly in emergency situations
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds
  • Ability to detect and locate causes of electrical failure or breakdown of equipment
  • 30. Ability to work with the tools, materials and equipment of the electrical trade
  • Recommended candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment physical as a condition of employment
  • a minimum of one (1) employment history entry
  • a minimum of three (3) professional reference entries

Responsibilities

  • This position provides a welcoming and inclusive environment by providing customer service to a diverse campus community of employees and students
  • Working with diverse students, parents, faculty, staff, and other involved parties by providing the highest level of student facing front-line customer service
  • Electrical repairs and PM inside and outside
  • Test, repair, install and/or maintain various types of electrical equipment
  • Performs related duties as required
  • Writes & reviews technical specifications for equipment and project by college and outside contractors
  • Participates in on-call rotation and detail
  • This is an AFSCME position and subject to the terms of that union agreement
  • Maintains, repairs, installs, and troubleshoots equipment
  • Supervise work performed by external vendors/contractors
  • May write specification for and estimate the costs of repairs, remodeling or alterations
  • Acts as a liaison to University staff, external personnel vendors and contractors engaged in activities related to building
  • Performs related duties such as requisitioning supplies and equipment
  • Maintains paper and electronic records and prepares reports
  • Submit personal time and attendance paper and ensure minimum staffing
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of control systems
  • Maintains inventory levels
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of electronic work order system and PM systems
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Initial assignment only
  • Knowledge of the types and uses of small hand tools used in electrical practice such as pliers, screwdrivers, etc
  • Knowledge of the types and uses of equipment including testing equipment used in electrical work
  • Knowledge of safety practices and precautions observed in the electrical trade
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques used in the electrical trade
  • Knowledge of the types and uses of hand held power tools such as drills, etc
  • Skill in using small hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, etc
  • Skill in the use of precision measuring equipment, gauges and instrumentation used in electrical work
  • Skill in using hand held power tools such as drills
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
  • Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, rules and regulations governing assigned unit activities
  • Ability to lead a group of workers
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations concerning electrical practice
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations to determine voltage, amperage and resistance factors
  • Ability to install, maintain and repair electrical wiring systems and equipment
