Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of machinery operation, safety standards, and routine maintenance practices
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with supervisors, foremen, and other team members
- Must pass a drug screening and background check
- Ability to lift heavy materials and operate machinery in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating machinery

Responsibilities
- As an Equipment Operator at our 8(a) heavy civil construction company, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery on job sites related to environmental work, wetlands, marshland restoration, infrastructure projects, sea wall restoration, utility installations, and Army Corps of Engineers projects
- Your role will involve routine checks on equipment, operating machinery, and collaborating with the team to ensure project timelines are met and safety standards are upheld
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, graders, cranes, loaders, and other heavy equipment as required for various projects, including wetland restoration, utility installation, and infrastructure development
- Routine Equipment Checks: Perform daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of all equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Report any equipment issues, perform basic maintenance tasks, and ensure all equipment is in good working condition
- Site Preparation: Assist with site preparation for construction projects, including clearing debris, leveling surfaces, and digging trenches for utilities or other infrastructure
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all company safety protocols and state/federal regulations, including OSHA guidelines, ensuring equipment is operated safely and efficiently
- Project Support: Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other equipment operators to ensure project objectives are met, including maintaining effective communication and assisting in logistics as needed
- Environmental Awareness: Ensure minimal disruption to the surrounding environment by adhering to environmental protection guidelines, especially when working in sensitive areas such as wetlands, marshlands, and sea walls
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and any issues encountered during operation, including submitting daily reports to the equipment manager or supervisor
- On-site work in a variety of outdoor environments including wetlands, marshlands, and construction sites
- Regular work hours, with potential overtime depending on project needs
